Salil Chaudhary,the great music director of the Golden Era of Hindi Films.He was a genius, he was a poet, lyricist, and storywriter. A staunch communist, he went to jail many times in the course of his political struggle.His love for western classical music taught him the potential of various musical Instruments and the importance of harmony in music. He was a self-taught musician.The songs of Madhumati,Parakh,Maya and Anand are still popular. Salilda's music defies classifications and never follows a predictable format. His songs charm the listener with a first feeling of simplicity.
His first Hindi film was Do Beegha Zameen in 1953 and the last hindi film was Mera Damaad in 1995,he got the Filmfare Best Music Director Award for Madhumati in 1958,he was a great fan of Mozart.His love for western classical music was reflected in his songs.
