Its very common in Bollywood that we copy a song from west or other country and use in our films..Nowadays we call it Inspiration.But there are many melodies which were composed by our Composers earlier and being taken as it is or a slight modification is adopted in later films.
I discovered few songs with pretty much the same tune, spread over more than half a century.The first tune composed by S D Burman for the song "Thandi Hawayein Lehra Ke Aayein" for film "Naujawan" in the year 1951.This Lata song a great hit among her immortal songs with the same tune or slight modification was tried in at least five songs in later films.one of them was �Rahen Na Rahen Hum� almost after 12 years in film "Mamta" released in the 1966.

Rahen Na Rahen Hum Roshan himself used the same old composition again in another hit song after almost 12 years in film "Mamta" released in the 1966.

�Hamein Raaston Ki Zaroorat Nahin Hai� His father's tune was used by R D Burman for this song for Naram Garam 1981 film

Once again the same tune was used in the song �Hamein Aur Jeene Ki Chaahat Nahin Thi� for AGAR TUM NA HOTE (1983).

After 2 years R D Burman again adapted some of the similar notes for his song in film �Saagar� released in 1985. for the song �Saagar Kinare Dil Ye Pukare�

The famous �Muqala Muqabla� song from HUMSE HAI MUQABLA (1994) composed by A R Rahman was from the original Tamil tune,later the same tune was adapted by Rajesh Roshan for �Muh Kaala Muqabla Hoga� in SABSE BADA KHILADI (1995) Same year Anu Malik used the same tune in �O Mere Sanam� from SURAKSHAA (1995)

Asha Bhosle, the younger sister of Lata Mangeshkar was born on 8th September, 1933 in a Gomantak Marathi Brahmin family in Sangli, Maharashtra. She was the third among five siblings. Be it the romantic "Oh Mere Sona Re" or the sensuous "Aaiye Meherban" or the peppy "Kambakth Ishq", Asha Bhonsle can add life to any song. she has sung in almost all genres including film music, pop, bhajans, ghazals, traditional Indian classical music, qawwalis, folk songs, and Rabindra Sangeets.
Initially her songs were basically meant for the sidelined roles like vamps, cabaret numbers or C-grade movies but it was O P Nayyar who gave her real break with C I D in 1956.With O. P Nayyar, Asha gave out hits after hits like �Aaiye Meherban�, �Deewana Hua Badal�, �Isharon Isharon Mein�, �Aao Huzur Tumko�, �Ude Jab Jab Zulfein Teri�, etc.
S D Burman was the other Music Director who understood her versatility.She and S.D Burman created many hit soundtracks for movies like Kaala Pani, Kaala Bazaar, Insaan Jaag Utha, Lajwanti, Sujata and Teen Deviyaan.
Her collaboration with R.D Burman took her the peak of her career.The duo of Asha and R.D Burman produced hits after hits starting from Teesri Manzil in 1966.A popular song �Jaane Jaa� from the movie Jawaani Diwaani (1972) required her to switch from high pitch to low almost simultaneously which she did with utmost ease and perfection. The song, �Dum Maro Dum� from the movie �Hare Rama Hare Krishna� showed an entirely new side of her talent. The romantic �Chura Liya Hai Tumne� from the movie Yaadon Ki Baarat is hummed even today and is considered to be one of the most romantic songs of this century.
In the 90's, she experimented with peppy numbers and produced hits like �Tanha Tanha�, �Yaire�, �Kambakth Ishq�, �Chori Pe Chori�, with much younger music directors like A.R. Rahman, Anu Malik, and Sandeep Chowta.
She received the Dada SahebPhalke award in 2000. She was honoured with the Padma Vibushan Award by the Government of India in 2008. She won 8 Filmfare awards in the best Female Playback Singer Category in the years 1968, 1969, 1972, 1973, 1974, 1975, and 1979. She received the Lifetime Achievement Award from Filmfare in 2001. She has won 2 national Awards, in 1981 for the song �Dil Cheez Kya hai� from Umrao Jaan and in 1986 for �Mera Kuchh Saman� from the film Ijaazat. In this Blog I am posting her Award Winning Songs

In this musical journey of Dev Anand S D Burman played a key role.His melodies and Lyrics of Sahir Ludhianvi and face of Dev Anand created euphoria in the 1950s and 60s.It was always said that Kishore was Burmanda�s first choice for Dev Anand but Mohammad Rafi with S D Burman gave many immortal songs for Dev Anand.It is an established truth that Rafi had a peerless skill to twist his voice according to the Hero, so he did perfectly for Dev Anand also emerging Dev�s image more romantic. Burmanda once agreed that he tried Talat, Manna Dey and Hemant Kumar for Dev Anand, but Rafi was perfect match for Dev Anand.
if you look back to the Golden Era of Hindi film music, you will find that other music directors kept Kishore away & preferred Rafi for Dev Anand.
The begining of the journey started with Navketan�s first film "Afsar" in 1950.This film had two evergreen songs of Suraiya � �Man mor hua matwala� and �Nain diwane ek nahi mane�.The year 1951 saw the release of Baazi. It was Navketan Films� first hit film. This film gave Bollywood its all-time great director Guru Dutt. It was Guru Dutt�s directorial debut. Music was again composed by S.D.Burman. It had some hit songs of Geeta Dutt viz. "Suno gajar kya gaye�, "Tadbeer se bigdi hui", "Aaj ki raat piya", "Tum bhi na bhulo balam" and a peppy number by Shamshaad Begum "Sharmaye kahe ghabraye kahe�.
Dev Anand�s second movie with Guru Dutt was Jaal(1952). It was also a box-office hit. It marked the rise of a stylish superstar. Jaal featured a beautiful solo by Lata Mangeshkar �Chori chori meri gaali ana hai bura�. Other memorable melodies from this film were �Yeh raat yeh chandani phir kahan�, a solo by Hemant Kumar and a duet with the same mukhda by Hemant Kumar and Lata Mangeshkar.
In the year 1954 came Taxi Driver,It had a comic song �Chahe koi khush ho� by Kishore Kumar and a tragic song Talat Mehmood�s �Jaye to jaye kahan�.
Almost all films of Dev Anand are a treat for music lovers. All of them cannot be mentioned here. But Dev Anand will always be remembered for his style, his romantic image and the evergreen music from his films. In this blog I am taking songs of Dev Anand in different moods.
